Destiny Blooms
“Tacoma, Spring is here.”
The basketball courts in Wapato Hills park are surrounded by the freshly bloomed Cherry Blossom trees - letting us know that we’ve made through another gloomy winter and that brighter days are just around the corner!
Youth with dreams of making it to the leagues are gracefully moving across the courts and refining their skills. The sight of every shot becoming more precise than the last feels like poetry in motion as the voice of the city, being carried in the winds, delivers a message:
“Tacoma, Spring is here.”
Around here, you don't just wake up to your calling.
You fight for your dreams, go through growing pains, and face tribulations that even your loved ones may never know about. Yet you learn to walk through the world in a way that inspires others and shouts, “You can do it, too”.
As our team welcomed in a new season of growth, we took a moment to reflect on the process of blooming and how hard work pays off beautifully when you trust the process!
“Destiny Blooms” launched towards the end of March 2024 when the beloved Cherry Blossom trees bloom and the best high school basketball teams in the state face-off at The Dome. The synergy between the first signs of Spring and the excitement that electrifies the city when our local schools make it to the big tournament is just part of the Tacoma experience!
Paired with visuals of some of the states’s most talented basketball prospects in action, this project produced by Foster’s Creative features a motivational 3-part message from the City of Tacoma’s Poet Laureate, Christian Paige.
Taking a moment to truly enjoy the Cherry Blossoms at their peak can be difficult for a lot of Tacomans - the demands of our busy lives force our attention elsewhere and before we know it, summer begins to show its face.
But this vision had to come alive so we all could enjoy this moment together and give each other praises for all of the hard work we put in behind the scenes! Thank you to Trey Collier (Class of 2027) and Jaleigha Robinson (Class of 2024) for sharing your gifts with us and proudly representing the city where destiny BLOOMS.
